One more time...

I figured I'd better post one more time before this year is over. Tomorrow I will be on my way to beautiful Germany...FINALLY!!!!
I can't wait. But there is still so much to do. But packing is not that big of a deal to me since I just pack everything!
Anyways, I hope you have Wonderful Holidays and a Happy New Year!!!!

15 years later.....

So yesterday was the 15th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall. Just one month and three days after I left East Germany with my family. I remember thinking how much it sucked since we just went through all this trouble of leaving and now everybody could just leave (I was just 10 years old), but looking back on it I think we still made a good decision.
This article says it all. Having family on both sides of the "wall" I can see the sentiments of people and what their thoughts are. Even I can still see differences in the people, but after only 15 years that is to be expected since most of the people remember how it was before and still have the mind set of that time, which is not a bad thing.
I think it is sad that those differences still exist, especially because they cause resentment, but you have to consider the circumstances. Things like that don't change over night and apparently not in 15 years. We'll see how long it takes...

He died....Again

Ok, so is it true now????
I don't know, but if you ask me it's all a big conspiracy and he has been dead for years.......

GO!

Tomorrow is election day and all of you out there better go vote. I wish I could go vote and it bugs me that I can't but at least I can make sure that people who have the privilege to vote here go and fulfill their democratic duty because that is what it is. You have to vote.
So, go to bed early get up at 6 and be at the polls at 7 or whenever they open in your neighborhood. Thanks.

Court allows political asylum from Germany / Afghan fled Soviets first, then neo-Nazis

What a bunch of bullshit.
So, this lady claims that the German government wasn't protecting her from the neo-Nazis in Germany and that is why and court in the US granted her asylum.
So, could I actually apply for asylum in the US as well since our apartment was broken into and I was attacked by groups of people before as well? But now that I think of it, that mainly happened in areas of Hamburg like Bergedorf. It is an area with a very high unemployment rate, something you could compare to the projects in the US. So, if this Zakia Mashiri is going to move into some kind of bad neighborhood in the US and gets threatened where is she going to go then?
I like the comment I heard on the radio from some official in Hamburg (sorry, I am bad with names). Germany is going to appeal and will try to get the asylum revoked in which case she needs to move back to Germany and then, since she is not a citizen her asylum status will be reconsidered and since things are better in Afghanistan she can go back to where she came from.
BTW, her husband is under investigation of social security fraud in Germany. Great.

15 years

My mom reminded me today that 15 years ago we left East Germany. I always thought it was during the summer but I guess I was wrong. So, it was October 6th 1989 and only a month and three days later the wall came down on November 9th. By then we had made out way from Giessen where they had a huge refugee camp, up north to Hamburg where we lived on a boat, functioning as a refugee camp....Do you call them camps???? There was a TV room downstairs and that is where we together with about 50 other East Germans watched as they tore down the wall. A few months later, towards the middle of January 1990 we finally moved into an apartment (all too ourselves). My parents started out with nothing...Well, except for the 100 Marks they gave you. Just 8 years later they bought a house, which is so impressive to me. Anybody can do it. You just have to believe in it.......
Anyways, 15 years doesn't sound very long but it is everything to me. I don't even want to think about where I would be,considering which part of Berlin we lived in.

Prost

Guess where I am going tonight????
Even though the food sucks the beer is OK and so it won't be that bad to sit out there and enjoy the wonderful German music (NOT). At least the weather is better than it was the last couple of years. I remember last year I had to wear my winter coat already.

So, if you have nothing better to do why not go to the Oktoberfest at Ft. Belvoir??? It'll be going on until Sunday.

The Animal

Hopefully today I will be getting a new vacuum cleaner!!! I think I'll get the Dyson Animal, but I want to see it first. Kind of exciting. Our old one broke last night, but we had it for five years so I think it has done its job well. Since we will be going to Target I might also be able to get some new sheets!!!! How exciting...it's like Christmas!!!!!!

Windy

I bet those people in Florida are happy once the hurricane season is over...
My mother in law was evacuated last week and since schools are closed this week too (she is a teacher) she decided to have a vacation....Not bad. I hope though that she will be able to get back home soon. She doesn't even know yet if and how much her home was damaged.
I am glad I don't live there.

German (small) Change

I had to giggle when I read this. That is so German.....Pay with exact change. I used to try to pay the exact amount when I came to the US but I felt so bad having people wait behind me while I am digging in my purse for pennies. That's why I love Coinstar. It's perfect.

Happy September!!!!

Did you ever notice how fast time goes by the older you get???? I remember when summers where endlessly long and now they just pass. But luckily in this climate we get to enjoy the nice temperatures a little bit longer.
September is going to be busy. A long weekend is coming up and we're going to King's Dominion!!!
But the most important thing is that now it's just three months until I go to Germany.....

Enough

I have had enough for today. It's been a way too long day and all I want is to go home have a nice cool glass of wine and enjoy the rest of the day.

Stapling

I think I am too stupid to staple things together. After about one and a half years I am now at my third stapler. At some point it just won't staple anymore. They don't go through...I have no idea what I am doing wrong but it must be something I am doing wrong....So, because I am too embarrassed to ask for a new one I snatched one from somebody else's desk since they left. I hope I don't break this one. It's heavier so now my wrist hurts. Can you tell I'm blond?

Garlic

On Saturday I made dinner and used a bunch of garlic and to this day (Monday) my hands still smell like garlic. I know there are certain ways of getting that smell off you but I haven't found it yet. I usually love garlic and how it smells but I have had enough of it....Nothing like waking up at 5:30 in the morning and instead of fresh coffee you smell garlic.

CNN.com - Seven Texas children found in Nigeria orphanage

That is just sick. How could you do that to children?
It makes me sick when I hear stuff like that. Couldn't they make her live this way for the rest of her life? That would be just.

Bad

Today was bad. I am tired but I slept enough and then again I am cold. Just a typical Monday.
Ciao.

Vacation

I booked our flights to Germany this weekend. We'll be there for Christmas and New Years!!!! I am so excited. I hate it when it comes to buying the tickets though. Because we first make the plans and try to figure out the schedule and I start looking at prices. I usually find cheap ones and then I need to save money and then once I saved enough the tickets are more. I had luck this time though. The tickets cost as much hey did two months ago which was pretty surprising. But maybe it's because it is still 4 months out.
....only 4 months???? Cool!!!!

WEEKEND!!!!!!

Isn't it wonderful? I can't wait. I am going to get my Spa-treatment tomorrow. It'll be great.
Have a nice weekend.
Ciao.

new medicine

Well, my step son had a doctor's appointment today and he is getting back on growth hormone. Luckily it comes it pre-filled little syringes now so I don't have to measure anymore, plus they are easier to handle. It's been over three years I think that he hasn't taken it but he needs growth hormone for the rest of his life now. They finally changed is nose spray to a pill too so that'll make things easier.

Happy Friday!

A little belated but still. It's Friday the 13th, which means it's a lucky day. And lucky I am, getting to see the opening ceremony of the Olympics tonight. I can't wait. For the next 2 weeks I'll be glued to the TV watching everything I can. How exciting!!!

Brush, brush

OK, got to go home now and brush my teeth and then it's off to the dentist!!!!!
Ciao.

Adieu Zidane

French superstar Zinedine Zidane retired from international soccer Thursday, ending his career with the national team after guiding it to the 1998 World Cup championship.

Too bad. He is a great soccer player but he will continue to play for Madrid.

Clean

I am going to get my teeth cleaned today so I have a short work day. Yay!!!
I love leavingearly...Well, I would love it not coming in at all, but it's so nice, especially towards the end of the week.
Hopefully it won't take too long at the dentist to where I can enjoy some of that extra time off.

Leaving Early!!!

We're going out to dinner so I have to go home early....Too bad.
We're going to this restaurant. Never been there but it sounds great.
Ciao.

Anchors Aweigh

Note: I started writing this post early this morning and forgot about it so I am posting it now.

On September 16th all new Chief Petty Officers get frocked.
Congratutions to all of you!

Stand Navy out to sea, Fight our Battle Cry;
We'll never change our course, So vicious foe steer shy-y-y-y.
Roll out the TNT, Anchors Aweigh. Sail on to Victory
And sink their bones to Davy Jones, Hooray!

Anchors Aweigh, my boys, Anchors Aweigh.
Farewell to foreign shores,
We sail at break of day-ay-ay-ay.
Through our last night on shore, Drink to the foam,
Until we meet once more.
Here's wishing you a happy voyage home.

Blue of the Mighty Deep; Gold of God's Sun
Let these colors be till all of time be done, done, done,
On seven seas we learn Navy's stern call:
Faith, Courage, Service true, with Honor, Over Honor, Over All.

The reason why I am posting this is because right now all the new Chiefs are getting initiated and I constantly have this song stuck in my head.

Efficient

I used my precious lunch hour today to take advantage of DC's tax holiday. No sales tax!!! So I went shopping and found two dresses, which I will never wear since I don't wear dresses. Cool, huh?

Done

Again. Not much to say. Again. I am really boring, I know.
Ciao.

Need

I really need to make some more time for blogging. I hardly post anything good anymore....but then again, it was never really informative etc....
Anyways, I realize just about this time every day now that I need to post something but then there's nothing to write about. I know there are things but I'm just drawing a blank. So, I need a plan. A good one.
Or it's just that I'm lazy?????

Testing Meme Propagation In Blogspace: Add Your Blog

This posting is a community experiment that tests how a meme, represented by this blog posting, spreads across blogspace, physical space and time. It will help to show how ideas travel across blogs in space and time and how blogs are connected. It may also help to show which blogs (and aggregation sites) are most influential in the propagation of memes. The dataset from this experiment will be public, and can be located via Google (or Technorati) by doing a search for the GUID for this meme (below).

Please join the test by adding your blog (see instructions, below) and inviting your friends to participate—the more the better. The data from this test will be public and open; others may use it to visualize and study the connectedness of blogspace and the propagation of memes across blogs.

The GUID for this experiment is:

as098398298250swg9e98929872525389t9987898tq98wteqtgaq62010920352598gawst

The above GUID enables anyone to easily search Google or other search engines for all blogs that participate in this experiment, once they have indexed the sites that participate, which may take several days or weeks. To locate the full data set, just search for any sites that contain this GUID.

Anyone is free to analyze the data of this experiment. Please publicize your analysis of the data, and/or any comments by adding comments onto the original post (see URL above). (Note: it would be interesting to see a geographic map or a temporal animation, as well as a social network map of the propagation of this meme.)

INSTRUCTIONS

To add your blog to this experiment, copy this entire posting to your blog, and then answer the questions below, substituting your own information, below, where appropriate. Other than answering the questions below, please do not alter the information, layout or format of this post in order to preserve the integrity of the data in this experiment (this will make it easier for searchers and automated bots to find and analyze the results later).

I just called a Cox guy that. He was transferring me (while I was talking to him) but apparently he could still hear me....OOPS! But he was an idiot anyways.
So, be careful when you curse at the Cox guys!!!!! Best time is to do it after you hang up.

Party!!!!

Finally, almost time to go. Can't wait for my party!!!!
This is going to be great weekend. Hope you all fo fun too!!!
Ciao.

Slow

Today is soooooooooooooo slow. Probably because I want to get out of here and enjoy this day. It is so beautiful outside. No humidity and it is relatively cool for this time of the year. Perfect for sitting outside. This weekend is supposed to be the same which is great since we have to go to a picnic tomorrow. I just can't wait to be done here and go home.

Happy Birthday!!!!!

To Me!!!!!
Big 25. Damn, I'm getting old.
We'll celebrate Mexican-style tonight. Margaritas!!!!!

Talk, talk, talk

Man. I don't mind talking to people at work. especially when it's important and makes the time go by. But now it's almost time to go already.
Ciao.

Routine

It's funny how fast you can get used to people and adjust to them and then all of a sudden it is hard to change that once those people aren't around anymore. Makes feel kind of lonely. What a weird day.

Bless Me!

I am sneezing my brains out right now. I don't think never sneezed as much as I just did. I feel all dizzy.

Getting Ready

Well, so this (work)day is coming to a end as well. Hopefully I'll make it to bed early tonight. I need some sleep. Bad.
Ciao.

Sad.

There are people you meet in your life and you get along with right away. You are on the same level and you enjoy being around them. And then they leave and you're still there.
I'll keep in touch though.

hair loss

I am losing my hair. Lately it just seems to be more than usual and that was a lot already. Hmmm....Well, we'll see. Maybe I'll go bald. Cool!

Beep

My one computer here at work is making weird noices. It beeps the whole time, but I don't know if it's only in my ear or if it really beeps. You know that feeling? Anyways, now it sounds even weirder. Maybe I should turn it off......

CNN.com - Police arrest husband of missing Utah woman - Aug 2, 2004

Well, unfortunately that is what I expected would eventually happen. Everything seemed fishy from the beginning.
Sad.

Like a princess

Over the weekend my husband gave me a gift certificate for a Spa. I get to have my nails done and haircut and get a one-hour massage. There is more too. I scheduled my appointment for next Saturday. I can't wait!!! I never had anything done like that except for my finger nails a looooong time ago.
Isn't that the nicest gift?

Happy Anniversary!!!!

To my parents.
They are celebrating 29 years of happy marriage today!!!
And right on time my dad's car wouldn't start this morning, so he can't take my mom out to a fancy restaurant in downtown Hamburg tonight. But that's ok. There are restaurants where they live too.
Damn car though. If you ever are thinking about buying a Audi. DON'T!!!

Out

I am out of here.
My weekend finally begins! Just a couple of errands and then I can relax.

Mosquitoes love me. It's a surprise I have not been infected with the west Nile Virus yet.

Happy Friday!!!!

It's the weekend...well, almost!
Short day for me, so in about 4 hours I'll be on my way home. I can't wait to finally get some sleep. All this week there was not one night where I was able to go to sleep before 11:30.
I can't wait.

Thursday, July 29, 2004

Already?

Look at the time!!!
Today went by fast, which is good because the rest of the week was horrible so far. Tomorrow I only have to work half a day which is perfect. So, really the weekend kind of starts today....but only kind of.
Ciao.

happy happy happy

Just got a pay raise.....unexpectedly.....cool, huh?

Another Day

And a much better one at this. Well, let's hope so. But just knowing that tomorrow is Friday makes it a lot better. I still didn't get to bed as early as I had hoped for but I feel rested.
BUT I am still freezing my ass off in here.

Wednesday, July 28, 2004

What a day

I am so ready to go. I am cold in here and about to fall asleep. This was not a good day.
Ciao.

Sorry

I am kind of tired today and have no energy whatsoever. I really need to get to bed earlier. Three nights in a row it's been almost midnight and I have to get up at 5:30 every morning. But it's my fault so I am not really complaining. I am using it as an excuse for not posting.

nbc4.com - News - D.C. Eateries Reduce Prices For Restaurant Week

Oh, I forgot about that one.
Restaurant week is this week!
Lots of yummy restaurants out there!!!!!!!

OK, Ciao.

I won't forget

Not again. Yesterday ended so stressy that I didn't even post anything before I left. Today is not any better but at least I remebered that.
Ciao.

Cold

I am freezing my ass off today. It is so cold in here. The stupid thing is, that now it doesn't even work to go outside for a few minutes since it is not really that warm outside either.......

Makes sense to me

Why not? Plus, I am sure it sort of make their day a little bit more interesting.

And again the week starts and it's Monday. Surprisingly I am not really tired today and I am glad. I just have to make it through the week and then it's the weekend again......
I had a nice one though. Our friends made it "home" safely. Our extended family is now complete!!!!!

Weekend!!!!

Finally. I am so done and ready to go.
Have a great weekend.
Ciao.

Today's commute

Brought to you by the words:

"Smelly" and "Stopping".
First, smelly people. Not smelly as in "I have no air conditioning and weight 300 pounds"-smelly, but "I have no sense of smell and don't know that a whole bottle of aftershave/perfume is a little too much"-smelly.
Second, "stopping" as in, I like to race up the escalator and then suddenly stop half way up so everybody behind me gets bump into each other.
Gotta love it.
Happy Friday!

Thursday, July 22, 2004

Oh Well

I didn't really have the time to post today, but hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Have a good one.
Ciao.

Finally

Sorry that I haven't posted anything yet today, but there is nothing really going on here other than the fact that tomorrow is Friday!!! I am so glad.
This weekend should be very exciting since our long-lost friends are moving back to the area and are going to stay with us for a while. Good that we bought the house. We have been moving stuff (lots of stuff) out of the guest room/office, now know as the guest room only. The only thing left tonight is to get our computer out of there and move a dresser into the closet to put another mattress in there. Busy, busy.

Wednesday, July 21, 2004

Gone

And away!
I am done for today!
Ciao.

Ooops

I've been so busy today bitching and complaining and trying to get things done that I forgot to post.
But nothing is going on anyways. I finally finished my burger from last night though!

Tuesday, July 20, 2004

Dinner

I am already hungry and I am craving a nice juicy burger. Unfortunately my husband does not (really). I was wanting to go to Five Guys, but they are to juicy for his taste today. But that's fine because he agreed to UNO's and I like their burger too. He likes their Guiness.
I am ready to eat!
Ciao.

Job

I wish I had an American citizenship. I could make twice as much. But I don't, so I am here. But I'll get there....hopefully. I just want to work somewhere where I can use my language skills a little more.

Monday morning on a Tuesday

Well mainly this is another metro post. People are so stupid and inconsiderate. My shoulder hurts from running into so many dumbasses. I think I'll have a bruise by tonight. What's up with thsoe idiots standing in front of open metro doors but not getting in, making it hard for everybody else to pass them and get on the train? Especially when you're running towards it because the doors are about to close....that's when I got my main shoulder injury this morning. Or those people that realize right when the doors close that they have to get off and run out standing in front of the doors and look around because this seems to be the best spot to figure out where to go?
Then on to the farecard vending amchines or whatever they are called. I had to fill up my smartrip card this morning because yesterday about 1000 tourists crowded around every single machine trying to figure out hwo to follow the directions on the machines. Since I really wanted to arrive at home before midnight I though I just take care of it this morning. No problem, right? There are two machines for the smartrip cards I get in line and this metro-dude is helping two girls in front of me and they walk off. My turn right? NO. This bitch walks up front of me and says something to the metro-dude and then when she is done complaining she proceeeds to the vending maching right when the two girls are done-IN FRONT OF ME!!! I hate people. I really do.

Monday, July 19, 2004

Why?

Why is it that always the whole day is slow and I am fallling asleep and then, as soon as I got one hour to go the stress starts?
Well, at least the day is over.
Ciao.

Queen Mary 2

The Queen Mary 2 arrived in the Hamburg port ths morning. Heiko Hebig has some pictures. That this a huge ship.
My dad was going to get up at 3AM and get out there but after not being able to sleep half of the night, he though it might be best to try and get as much sleep as possible.

Monday

Again.
What a nice weekend it was though. Met with a friends and had a lot of fun while still getting stuff done. This week we have to get the guest room ready which means getting all the office stuff out of there, but that shouldn't be too bad. Other than that not much is going on so far. We'll see what the day brings......

Friday, July 16, 2004

It is Time

Time to go. I am so gald. I will be going straight to the bar! That's the way to start the weekend!!!
Have a good one.
Ciao.

This is scary SHIT!

I just read this article, which was linked by Stephen Green, the Vodkapundit, who got it from Jessica from Jessica's Well, who in turn got it or the confirmation of it's truth from Michelle Malkin.
Read it! I know it's long but it's worth it.

UPDATE: Many people posted about this but I forgot to mention the Spoons Experience.

I hate him

That damn Lance Armstrong got another 2 and half minutes on Jan Ulrich today which makes it almost impossible for Ulrich to catch up and win. Fuick.

Navy Wife

-It's the toughest job in the Navy.

That's what my new coffee cup says. My husband got it for me yesterday.
Now I have about three coffee cups at work.

Question

Does anybody know if and when the UK is planning on joining the Euro, I mean using that currency? I knwo they voted against it but is there a plan on having another vote and if that was yes, what would the time line be?
It's about investments and all I need to know is if it could happen in the next three yeats or not. I suspect not, but I would like to hear it from somebody else.
Thanks.

Happy Friday!!!!!

Finally ther last day of the week. How exciting. Not much going today or this weekend. A couple of friends are coming over and we're going out tonight with another couple ad the kids. I really need to get my hair cut this weekend. I am way overdue with that.

Thursday, July 15, 2004

Thank you

You who makes the clock run faster!!!!!
Time to get ready and go. One more day and then it's the weekend!!!!!
Ciao.

I didn't know

I feel really stupid, but I didn't knwo that Juergen Klinsmann was a technical advisor to the LA Galaxy (I want to say Frankfurt Galaxy). I might actually start watching MLS since I have a team I can connect with now. I don't know.

Hmm.....

Blondes really are more stupid after hearing 'dumb blonde' jokes, according to research by psychologists in Germany.

Ok, so if somebody keeps making jokes about you, you start being stupid.
I don't know if I believe that. I am blonde and I like blonde jokes but I don't think it influenced my intelligence....well, maybe it did....duh...

Bills

It's payday and that means it's pay-the-bills day too!!!
Ever since we moved and we now have a mortgage I pay all the bills on the 15th of the month and the mortgage on the 1st. So, on the 15th I have about 11 bills to pay which takes a long time. I don't know why but I like writing checks and so I don't usually pay online or set up any automatic withdrawals, but maybe I should since it is getting a little too much.
Maybe I'll do that today?

Other than that everything is going great. It is such a beautiful day outside today, but I hope it will still be nice out when it's time for me to go home, but that's a long time away.

That's because a portion of the ceiling came crashing down about 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, sending tiles and wires cascading to the floor.

OK

Alright kiddos. I am out of here. Let's home I don't get hit by a tornado. I heard that the power is out at Springfield Metro but the VRE is still running.
Ciao.

The lucky ball

This is an auction on the Spanish eBay site. They are selling the ball that Beckham was unable to score with during the penalty kick at this year's European Championship. I wonder who will be the one to pay that kind of money for a ball and what they are going to do with it. I guess it depends if they like Beckham or not.
The Official Match Ball used on the game against Portugal, that left UK out of the Europe Cup, the same ball of the penalty, that David Beckham miss, will be auctioned on eBay. Pablo Carral, a fan, catched the ball and he took it out from the stadium.
Is the Official Europe Cup Match Ball, made in Thailand. It has the date of the game, the 24th of June 2004, also the place of the celebration, da Luz of Lisbon stadium.

UPDATE: The current highest bidder is German. BTW, Euro 10,000,000 is more than $10 million.

Garlic

I smell garlic...and it smells good. Well, almost time to have lunch....Pizza again, but I could eat that every day.

Zeus was a whore

I have been reading a book I read in 8th grade or so about Greek mythology and all the gods etc. So, I when online to see what resources are available and found this website, the Encyclopedia Mythica. While I was reading the book I started to think that Zeus got around a lot, so I looked that up and found a little table with some of his offspring. Pretty busy.

Half Way

It's Wednesday!!! That means we are half way through the work week. Just two more times getting up early. I so can't wait for the weekend.
Not much going on besides some people coming over Saturday evening. I should finally be able to get my hair cut.

My mom is back in the hospital but this time it was planned. She is finally getting her tonsils taken out. Well, that was yesterday but she'll stay there for a little bit longer.
In other news....I'll be a real aunt!!!!!!! My lovely brother and his wonderful girlfriend (whom I haven't met yet) are expecting to be parents around March of next year. They're a little scared since they lost a little one at the end of last year. But everything should be fine. I can't wait! This will be the first grandchild for my parents...other than the step-ones I surprised them with.

Slow Day

And a weird one. I had this little headache lingering around for most of the day. I am tired all of a sudden and stuffed. But luckily I get to go home soon and maybe get some sleep.....or not.
Ciao.

There we go

Well, it seems the woman lied after all. Sad.
Just days after claiming to be the victim of an attack that stunned France, a young mother confessed to making up the story, authorities said Tuesday.

Interesting

I read the story about the 23-year woman being attacked on a French train yesterday. It is almost common to hear about some sort of racially motivated attack in France.
Now, they said that she might made the whole thing up.
Police patrolled suburban trains on Monday and studied video from surveillance cameras, trying to track down six men who allegedly attacked a young mother and scrawled swastikas on her stomach.
But doubts began to surface about the truth of the attack report that stunned France.

OK

Finally time to get out of here!!!
Ciao.

Yummy!!!!

People will do anything for money except work...Really.

A woman charged with killing her brother-in-law by spiking his smoothie with antifreeze admits putting the chemicals in the drink, according to the woman's lawyer.

Tired

I am starting to get kind of tired. My head is starting to hurt too. I better quit since I have to birthday party to go to...that means going home, but still.....
Almost done!!!!!

Yet another example...

...to show you that drugs are bad for you.

A Delaware college student ate a bag of hallucinogenic mushrooms and drove around in a pair of stolen cars before arriving, confused, on a mountain in northwest Connecticut police said.

Day After Tomorrow

Extreme temperatures, which have killed at least 22 people in Romania in the space of a week, continued to plague Europe, with Greece sweltering in a heatwave and an open-air performance of Verdi's "Traviata" canceled in Italy.

I didn't believe it when my mom told me that they reported snow in the Bavarian Apls.
They have had a horrible summer so far in Hamburg, Germany. It's just raining...and raining....and raining some more. But that's how I remember it being when I was living there. Of course, last year we had the shit summer here and they had the hot one.

Happy Birthday!!!!!

Just a little Happy Birthday wish for my lovely husband!!!!
Have a great day and I can't wait to see you tonight!!!!
I love you and I couldn't be happier with you.

Back to Work!!!

Well, it's Monday...AGAIN.
Oh well, I had a great weekend. Went to a retirement party on Friday and had to deal with the results of it most of the day Saturday but was ready for another get-together Saturday evening. You can tell it's summer with all those parties going on but it's fun to see all those people and meet new ones.

Done

I made it!!!
Got everything (important) done and I am still alive to enjoy this evening and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow without work.
Ciao.

Nothing

I have absolutely nothing to post about.
Just writing that everything is great seems to be boring and nothing really pissed me off. Isn't that sad that something bad has to happen for me to have something to tell?
Sad.

Hot Wheels!!!

At least 27 Honda CR-V sport/utility vehicles from the 2003 and 2004 model years burst into flames shortly after getting their first oil changes, according to newspaper reports Friday.

Kind of funny but I'm sure that the owners didn't think so.
That's what you get for buying a shit car.

One More

One more day and this week will be over! I can't wait. But first I'll have to end this day and it will end early...believe me.
Ciao.

Honk

Very nice to listen to a truck and car having a honking contest outside the building......

Not Fair

Instead of enjoying summer vacation, some Fairfax County students spent Thursday back in school, through no fault of their own.
They're among the nearly 300 unlucky students whose Standards of Learning tests were damaged while being transported by UPS.

That sucks. Do they get reimbursed if they had to cancel tickets? Probably not. My stepson almost went to Edison, but we sent him to the VA School for the Deaf and Blind then.

HAHAHA

Poor Lancy Armstrong lost his yellow jersey......

Touchy Feely

Just read it on the Drudge Report.
Seems that the two Johns are touching each other way too much.....

Tired, Cranky, Headache

This pretty much describes my morning so far.
Woke up with a headache and way too tired. Had to wait at the train and at the metro and everything was way too packed with stupid tourists and other idiots alike.
I am already looking forward to going home and back in bed.

Wednesday, July 07, 2004

Again

It seems that the last few miutes at work are always stressy....I almost forgot to post. But not today!!!
Ciao.

Food

I am hungry....which is weird because I ate so much for breakfast....somebody brought in some lemon and banana-nut bread. But now I'll have to go find more food. You would think I weight 300 pounds as much as I eat but I guess my metabolism is awesome because everybody think I'm anorexic.

The New York Times > International > Europe > Thomas Klestil, 71, Austrian Who Redeemed the Presidency, Dies

President Thomas Klestil, who brought calm to an office frayed by controversy surrounding his predecessor's past in World War II, died Tuesday. He was 71.

Good Morning

What a beautiful day it is. I hate it when it is fairly nice outside in the morning because it'll be just hot and humid once I get to enjoy the rest of the day outside this afternoon. Oh well, I am rested and ready to go!

Tuesday, July 06, 2004

Countdown

Almost time to go. I am tired and I want to go home. I hate it when I can't go to sleep on time. Every morning I am soooo tired and then, once I get home I am all awake.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better and I actually have some energy to write something a little more interesting.
Ciao.

No More Homer

I can't read that. I don't even get the names so I grabbed an older book with several Greek stories in it. I read it in 6th grade or so. It's very easy to read and then at least I am up-to-date with all the gods. Maybe when I have a lot of free time I'll sit down and read it but I am way too tired to even get a paragraph.
I need more books.

First things first

Before I get carried away with work I figured I better post. Yesterday turned somewhat busy but it consisted more of watching the clock to get out of here. Today we'll get our foosball table!!!!!

Monday, July 05, 2004

Homer

I started reading Homer over my vacation. I am still at the inroduction. Oh well. I probably won't be able to finish this one until Christmas....

I'm back!!!

How stupid to start working after a week off.....it seems everybody stayed home....the building I work in was locked...no coffee either. No people on the roads or the train...metro that is since the VRE is not in service today.......I want to go back to bed.....

Friday, June 25, 2004

Almost

I am almost done and then I have a whole week off!!!!!
There is absolutely nothing going on here. The only thing I have left to do is wash my coffee cup....
I'll try and post during the week but I can't promise anything.
Ciao.

.......

I am trying to find something interesting to do this last hour at work, but there is absolutely nothing to do. I am all burned out since I had to finish everything for the month by today so I am done with work.
One hour.........

Lame

Greece just beat France!!!! What's going on? First Germany, then England and now France?
Oh well.
I got a long Friday today so I'll be here for a little longer. Good though, since it's raining like crazy outside and I wouldn't want to leave now anyways.

Happy Friday

Finally the weekend!!!!!
Tomorrow we're off to Savannah!!!! And then I have a whole week off. Oh I am so looking forward to this.

Thursday, June 24, 2004

Yet another game

Well in the first match of the quarter finals England is playing Portugal right now. England already scored in the 2nd minute. This time it wasn't Rooney but Owen......finally.

Still Cranky

I'm still cranky today. So my motivation to post anything is very low. Plus what is there to post now? No more interesting soccer and everything else just seems so depressing.
What to do???

God, I sound like a teenager.

Germany Out

And me too. I'm going home and cry...maybe I'll have a drink to ease the pain. Fuck.
Ciao.

Damn

13 minutes to go and Germany is behind the Czechs 2:1. They need to win since the Dutch are winning. Damn it. I wish I could just scream here but I think the people in my office would think I'm nuts.

Getting Ready

Not to go home but for the BIG GAME!!!!
I hope Germany makes it to the next round. If not, they probably deserved it.

Important Day

Today is a very important day. By this afternoon it will be decided if Germany makes it into the next round. They have to play the Czech Republic. They don't have to win if the Netherlands or Latvia doesn't win but if they have a tie, though it'll be better for Germany to win to ensure the advancement.

Tuesday, June 22, 2004

Ciao

Ouch

About an hour ago or so my back started hurting like hell. No matter how I sit it hurts. Only when I stand it feels somewhat ok, but that is kind of impossible until I get off work. I hate that. Somebody's gotta have to rub my back tonight.......

Another One

Stinkysteven67: I love married with children. Its a great show.
Lucy17: It's ok, One thing that bugs me about that show,
In the pilot series they had Al bundy sounding like he was from Brooklyn
or something when they are supposed to be from Chicago.
Stinkysteven67: Where do you think brooklyn is dork?
Lucky17: Its in new york goofball, chicago is in illinios.
Stinkysteven67: Oh sorry, I've never been good at geometry.
Lucy17: Umm yea..

Those are just too funny.
Can you believe I am still reading them?

HAHAHA

hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

I just came accross this site. It is too funny. I have to bookmark it.
Man, look at the time...LUNCH!!!

At least they died happy

A slaughterhouse in China is giving pigs showers, saunas and massages before chopping them up.

I don't see the sense in that at all. I'm sure that wouldn't satisfy PETA either, but if it makes them happy, I guess go ahead.
Funny though, but maybe they taste better because they die a little more relaxed. I don't know. I prefer not to know what the animal I am eating enjoyed or not right before it was electrocuted and chopped up. I just want to eat it.

FlyI

Independence Air started to fly out of DC last week or so and they will start servicing Jacksonville, FL on July 1st. I booked a flight for my oldest stepdaughter who lives in Florida so she can come up July 4th weekend. Just $89 including taxes etc. Cool, huh?
She is also coming up since we'll have her little babygirl the week before and she was kind of scared of having her grandmother, my mother-in-law, drive back with just her and the baby.
This summer is kind of complicated. Or at least the first part of it.
This is the first week of summer break and we sent the lovely stepson to his grandma's. My husband and his mom met half-way between us and her (also Florida) in South Carolina. I had to stay home to record the best race ever. But when we trade off kids and grandkids (his not mine) this weekend I'll go too!!! So, we'll have a mini-vacation hotel-stay-thingie in Savannah, GA on Saturday. We were going to book a hotel room in Hilton Head yesterday but for 200 dollars it wasn't worth it, considering we'll be tired on Saturday from all that driving and have to get up early on Sunday to go back home.
So Savannah will be ok.
Then after all hat summer school starts for my (step)son and the teenager (!!!!) will hang out at our old neighbor's since she'll have somebody to hang out with. She is waiting to start working so that'll hopefully start soon..

Tuesday Morning

It's Tuesday already!!!! Just three more mornings and that's it.
I am kind of tired this morning though. I should try and go to bed earlier tonight.
Nothing really else is going on....I think.
Oh, soccer!
Ok, so Engalnd beat Croatia 4:2 and France beat Switzerland 3:1. So, England and France made it to the next round. England will have to play Portugal on the 24th and France is facing Greece on the 25th.
Todays matches are Italy vs Bulgaria and Denmark vs. Sweden.

Monday, June 21, 2004

Fun Monday

Tonight we are alone. No kids!!!!!
I can't wait.
ciao.

???

What is going on in Portugal.
I missed the first 15 minutes and had to decide which match I want to listen to. So, I picked the Croatia-England game. Croatia already scored!!! Then, at least Zidane put France in the lead against Switzerland but they already scored too. What the hell?
I wish I had a TV and could watch this.

Nice weekend

I had a really nice weekend. It was very relaxing and the weather was just great yesterday. We had a nice Father's Day with the obligatory PS2 game for my husband (He's a child at heart). He was very excited to schedule the delivery of the new pool table. It'll get here next week.
I also realized that I am off next week and we will drive down to Savannah on Saturday to spend the night. I can't wait to just do NOTHING!!!!!

BMW 316i

This is an auction on ebay.de for a very nice BMW.
It may be old but it drives good. The auction ends tomorrow so if you live close to Hamburg, Germany and need a new car....

Friday, June 18, 2004

Good Game

The Italy-Sweden game was really good. It ended in a tie (2:2). I hoped for Sweden to win but this is ok too, since they could still make it to the next round.

I am on my way out the door.
Have a great weekend!!!
Ciao.

Father's Day

Well, people this weekend is Father's Day. A very special day. I know that my beloved husband will spend the afternoon watching a very interesting race, and we had decided to not really give any big gifts.
BUT he is still going to get a really cool gift from me because I can not not give gifts. I have to. So, because we have been looking around for pool tables I figured I can get the one we picked. But I will not have it delivered while he is not there because he wants it at a specific spot that I have no idea about so he can tell the delivery people. But, even though he knew that we would get one it is still kind of a surprise I think.

So, then we only need a bar or at least some tables left for the Rec Room and we're done. My husband already picked out the booze fridge.

Bulgaria Out!

They just got beaten by Denmark 2:0. It sounded like they got pretty upset at the end. A lot of yellow cards.

Weird

Identical twins from Manchester broke their left arm in the same place on the same child's slide on the same day.

I always tought that twins have a special connection. I have friends in Germnay who are twins and it wasn't just their look that was similar but how they reacted to certain things.

Metro People

There are different kinds of people that I see over and over in the metro. One kind is the one that thinks it is completely unnecessary to hold on while riding the metro. They spread their legs to keep balance but usually their expression on their faces just looks painful. I honestly don't get it, but hey if you fall just make sure to not fall on me. Idiot.

Then we have the "I don't care about anybody but me" person.
\For example, yesterday the Metro was packed. No new there. So, everybody, except for the person above, was trying to find a pole or something to hold on to. Well, the dumbass discuss here would be a person that likes to lean on the poles that people use to hold on to. So, when that person leans on it nobody can hold on to it. But that person doesn't care. even if knuckles poke into their backs and their hair gets stuck on other peoples' hands. And to the bitch from yesterday: You might want to cover up your chest a little more until after you shave it again. Yuck.

I know there were other people I wanted to describe but now I can't think of it....

Oh Yeah. The doors on the metro are wide enough to let people through side-by-side. So, mostly after you get off the train people go into the same direction.Left or Right. So, why when you are on my right side and we step out of the train together do you have to turn left right away, cutting me off? Today this lady did it when I was getting on the train. and then she looks at me like I did something when I run into her. What it bitch.

OK, I think that's it now. I feel better now.

Thursday, June 17, 2004

The France-Croatia game ended in a 2:2 tie. I expected France to win but Croatia was pretty good. At least this outcome keeps it open as to who will make it to the next round.

I'll leave now. Thunderstorm Warning is in effect!!!!!
Ciao.

Darts

A good friend of ours gave us his dart board. He is getting married, so he didn't really need it anymore. So, we hung it up yesterday and played a little bit. I got a blister on my finger from pulling the darts out of the board and today my arm hurts.
I can't wait to get home a play some more.

Hm....

Have you ever started writing a post and then just deleted it?
I just did that.

Go England

Well, England seems to have recovered from their defeat by France. They beat Switzerland 3:0. Sounded like a very good game. They lost some ambition in the beginning but recovered in the second half. I'd say it was a good game. I would have liked to watch it.
Next: France vs. Croatia.

(Wouldn't I make a good sports commentator?)

Busy, Busy, Busy

The day started very busy for me. But it's a good kind of busy. The kind where you actually get things done and feel good afterwards. Now it's almost lunch time and the first match of the day is about to start!!!! England vs. Switzerland.

Blogeline Out

Ciao.

Russia Out

Well, Russia didn't make it. They lost 2:0. But they still have to play Greece and then they get to go home.

Live BBC Broadcast!!!

Oh, I am the happiest girl in the whole world!!!!!
I just found a link to a BBC radio station the broadcasts ALL of the matches!!!!
This really made my day.

Fact

Russia has not won a European Cup game in 16 years. I would like to know how often they have qualified to even be in one?

UPDATE:
Well, it took Portugal only 5 minutes to score. I believe that this is how the rest of the game will go.

Tied

Well yet another tied game. Next: Russia plays Portugal. I hope this one has a winner (Portugal of course).

Better

I feel a lot better now. I probably just needed to get something in my stomach.
The soccer match is going good. It's tied 1:1 right now. Greece did pretty good in their first match against Portugal. But Spain didn't do too bad against Russia either, but then again Russia is not a real scary soccer team as far as I know.

Shaky

I feel all shaky all of a sudden. Usually I would be hungry by now but I don't think I am but it feels like I need to eat. But I can't even think about food. I hate it when my body is not functioning right.
I so can't wait to get home and relax and lay back. I a just not looking forward to going outside. It is so hot and humid.

Back to Work

Well, here I am again.
Yesterday was horrible. My head hurt like hell and it even still sometimes hurts a little.
Germany tied the Netherlands yesterday, but they played really good. A lot of people said that it was the best game in a long time, so maybe they will actually make it to the next round.
Spain plays Greece at noon EST and then later Russia will play Portugal.
Nothing else is going on here. I feel a little out of it, but as the day progresses I am waking up.

Tuesday, June 15, 2004

Under the weather

I am not feeling good today at all.
I just got on the computer to check the score. Germany is playing the Netherlands. Right now Germany is leading 1:0.
More tomorrow.
Ciao.

Monday, June 14, 2004

Ooops

Man, look at the time!
I am getting ready. Finally. What a day. It went on forever and all I did was eat and "watch" soccer.
Now it's 4:0 Sweden. About 12 minutes left but I don't think Bulgaria will be able to catch up with that. Oh well, they seemed to fighting really hard.

I am starting to sound like a real lazy person but really I am not. I am just setting my standards too high, so I think I'm lazy.

Ciao.

1:0

Sweden is leading. There are about 10 minutes left in the first half.

UPDATE: Holy Cow! 3:0 Sweden. What did I miss?

0:0

How boring.
In less than a hour it'll be Sweden vs. Bulgaria....who cares about them?

10 Minutes to go

Denmark plays Italy at noon EST.

UPDATE: Well, as far as I can tell it's a pretty boring game. No scores yet. Looks like Denmark, the 1992 European Champion will not repeat that. Less competition for Germany. And they need that.

FYI

For all of you Nascar fans out there. This week is the Unites States Grand Prix, so if you would like to watch some REAL racing why don't you turn into Speed TV on Saturday at 1 PM EST for the Qualifying and on Sunday at 12:30 PM EST for the race?

Missed it

Ok, so I just saw that over the weekend I went over 200 visitors. The I noticed that I am now a Slithering Reptile in the TTLB Ecosystem. So I thought I better check and see when my 500th post is coming up and wouldn't you know that the last one was the 500th. Kind of hard to belive since I had this blog for well over a year now.
Oh well.

What are they thinking?

UPDATE:
Thanks for coming to look at Beckham and Zidane. I think this is a little old of a post so why don't you go to the newer ones, OK???
Thanks.

Source: AP

Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham yesterday.

Oh no!!!!!!

Ferrari winning and displaying perfect reliability was to be expected, but Williams had made some clear progress on qualifying and race pace and were thus stunned when their cars were excluded when their brake ducts failed technical inspection. Toyota suffered a similar fate, while the failure of either Renault to finish was also noteworthy.

Looks like somebody didn't pass inspection....
I feel bad for Ralf though. He did good.

Looks like Heiko had the Breaking News first.

To be expected

About 400 frustrated football fans rampaged in south London, throwing things at police and injuring two officers after England lost to France in their first match at the Euro 2004 championship in Portugal on Sunday.

I "experienced" the first half. I was online using some Live Ticker and I was also talking to my brother on the phone who was watching it. England scored close to the end of the first half and I was pretty confident that they were going to win it by the way France seemed to be playing. But as I went to check the score later online I just knew that there was going to be trouble. Sad too, because I wanted England to win. Germany needs to kick their ass in the Final...just kidding.

Update

Ok, so my mom is doing much better. A little pain when she tries to talk or is eating but that's ok. She'll be home tomorrow!! As soon as the swelling dies down she'll be back under the knife to get them damn tonsils taken out.

FUN!!!!

A food fight that started with fruit cup turned into a mealtime melee, serving up a full plate of arrests and injuries.

They were only having a little fun....

Thursday, June 10, 2004

Alright

I am going to get ready. Not much going on here.
Thanks for the comments and links. I really appreciate it. I will post an update on my mom hopefully through the weekend, if not on Monday.
Have a good one.
Ciao.

One hour to go

In about an hour I get to go. Finally. I hardly got anything done today. It'll be the start of the weekend for me since my employer was gracious enough to close our offices tomorrow as well.

MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia: Peritonsillar abscess

That's what my mom has or had.
Sounds kind of gross.

Just want to go

See, that's when I hate that I live here and my whole family half way across the globe. I am sitting here and I have absolutely no idea of what is going on. Surely nobody is home, but I couldn't call from work anyways, so I am sitting here waiting to go home in a little less than 7 hours. Great. It really doesn't help getting a short phone call saying we'll go to the hospital and that's it.

I know she's going to be ok. She had that before. It's some infection in her throat that swells up so much that she is in danger of not being able to breathe anymore so they have to remove it. When she had it a couple of years back it scared the shit out of everybody because she only went to the doctor because of her sore throat and he told her to go to the hospital right then and there. They warned her that it could happen again and that she needed to watch herself and go to the doctor right away when her throat hurts no matter if she thinks it's just a cold, but of course she doesn't go to the doctor and there you have it.

I wonder how much it would costs to send a text message to my dad's or brother's cell phone?

UPDATE: My dad juts e-mailed me. I guess he went home real quick. She got out of the first surgery and tomorrow she has another one. She has to deciede if she wants them to take her tonsils out, which she should. Then she'll have to stay in the hospital for another two weeks.

Shit

What a way to start the day.
Trying to remember before I go to bed to call my mom and wish her a Happy Birthday and instead getting a phone call before my alarm goes off telling me that she's on her way to the hospital to get emergency surgery. She should have went to the doctor on Monday.

Into the Chaos!

OK, it's almost time to go. We'll see how it'll got, but I don't think too many people are trying to leave DC now. Lots of people left at 2 PM so who knows, maybe it'll be empty!!!! Just kidding.
Ciao.

CNN.com - Blast injures 16 in Cologne - Jun 9, 2004

I just read it on a German news site and didn't expect it to make it that fast to CNN or actually at all.
Right now they don't have any suspects. The area is mostly populated by Turkish immigrants so it might be interesting to see what kind of suspects they come up with.

Bad

I was bad. I went to McDonalds again. Even though I brought a very healthy lunch today I could not resist the offer. Sorry, but I will try harder next time. I'll have my salad with chicken (stuffed with ham) tomorrow.

Yuck

A truck carrying 9,000 gallons of pig's blood was rear-ended and spilled its entire cargo on the German autobahn Wednesday, forcing the highway to close for several hours.

I read about that this morning. That is so disgusting. I wonder who was the lucky one having to clean this up. And, how do you clean this anyways?

It started

Ok, we all knew that today and tomorrow were going to be hell trying to get into the city and around. I personally had no real problems. I noticed that the metro seemed to be a little more crowded but then again sometimes you get one of those. Anyways, I heard from people who live in Maryland and drive to the metro that parking was a huge problem this morning. One is stuck in greenbelt waiting for it to turn 10 AM to use the reserved parking. Another went from one metro station to the other to find a place to park. She lives right outside Andrews AFB. Luckily I do not rely on a car or a bus, which is going to be hell too. I only get to deal with overcrowded trains. We'll see how this afternoon goes tomorrow. Surprisingly I am off on Friday as well.
BTW, I heard that there are people lining up at the Capitol already.

Stupid

Teachers and parents in Cape Elizabeth are warning middle school students about the dangers of deliberately making themselves pass out, a developing trend among youngsters in the community.

I remember when I was about 13, we started doing the same thing. It is really stupid because loss of brain cells isn't really good for you. But of course, when you're that age you don't really give a damn. We eventually stopped because pot gave us a much longer "good feeling" ;P

changing shoes

Well, I have got to put my walking shoes on, because I am ready to go.
Two more days.

Another parental responsibility

Ok, so here is this father that sees how his son is struggling with medication and because he loves his son, he decides to take him off the medication. Now they are investigating him for child abuse?

My step-daughter takes medication and because she is 16 we cannot force here to take it, but yet we are responsible for her taking it. This means my husband has to take her to the doctor (NOT force her or make her) and remind her to take her pill (NOT force her or make her). It is being played both ways and when a child really wants to or an agency really wants to, they can get you in so much trouble because you either don't do enough or too much.
The same goes for doctor visits and test. You have to make sure your child is healthy but can't make them to be tested for STDs or pregnancy or whatever the case may be.
My step-son has a fairly rare birth defect and so doctors (at a University hospital) had to figure out how to treat him, since they had no idea what was wrong with him. Well, whatever he was on was not working. He lost weight and his condition worsened, so my husband took him off the medication. Immediately my stepson started feeling better and ate again. Well, CPS was called on him too because of that.
I just don't get how you can go after a parent who clearly had no ill intentions just because they made a decision about THEIR child without consulting a doctor.

What to eat?

I am starting to get worried, since I still don't know what to have for lunch today.....What to eat? What to eat?
I need help.

Busy Future

We finally have conformation that one of our closest friends are moving back into the area. Sometime around the middle of July we will have three more people living with us, which will be great, and I mean it. Also, our little god-son will be around too!!! So, to make it as comfortable as possible we, or I should say my husband, will finish one of the other rooms in the basement so we can move the office out of our guest room. I can't wait.
Tomorrow is Home Depot day. If anybody has some good advice, it is welcome. But I completely trust my husband in finishing that room. After all, he built a whole addition on his old house.

Bored

Great so now I am home. I am almost done with the beds. I made the shopping list and now I am bored....What to do?????
Oh well, I guess that's what I get for being too happy about starting my weekend early.
Oh look! Law & Order is on.
Later.

Alright kids

Time to get ready. Put your sun block on because we're going home.
Ciao.

Happy

Man I am glad that I am almost done. And I got a lot of other things done and now I am actually ahead of schedule. Cool, huh?
Well, almost the weekend!!!!

Too much pressure

A fainting spell in Washington -- or, more accurately, a fainting speller.
A 13-year-old boy from Colorado appeared to faint, and collapsed on stage Thursday during the final round of the National Spelling Bee.

Poor kid. I wonder if he would have been disqualified if he didn't get up an spell the word correctly....?

Waiting.......

I just don't seem to be able to get things done today. Either the computer program we use is way too slow (nothing new here) or I just get side-tracked. I keep looking at the clock and time just won't pass. This is horrible. All I want is to go home.

Silly

OK, I just figured out yesterday how to access my answering machine at home from any other phone. Let me make clear though that it was not because I am stupid, because I am very smart, but because I was just too lazy to get the manual and read it up. So, I went online and found the manual and figured it out. Now, the silly thing is that about every 30 minutes or so I check my answering machine. Isn't that stupid?
The cool thing is that I ca also use my cell phone. I remember with my old answering machine I couldn't use my cell phone.

Tiananmen

15 years ago, the Chinese government, or then-Premier Li Peng ordered that military force will break up protest by mostly student that only wanted Democracy. To this day the Chinese government says that it only reacted. The exact number of the people that dies is to this day still unknown and attempts to bring up this subject within China have repeatedly been shut down.
The link above is to a search on google's news site.

I have been to Tiananmen square and to imagine this place being full of people protesting and then the military to move in is just breathtaking.

I don't know

what to eat for lunch.
I had Pizza last night, so that's out of the question. I think I would be too lazy to go to McDumb but I don't know. Plus I have to go to the bank and get some $$$ too.
So many questions and no answers.

Summer Plans????

In case some of you have no plans for the summer yet. Why don't you go to Portugal???
I am really excited about this, as every "good German" should be (or not???). Sucks though, because most of the games will be on while I am at work But then again it'll be hard to find a TV station here in the US that shows the games anyways.

Happy Friday!!!

Yupp,it's Friday for me. I am so excited...what a week ;)
But I have a lot of things to do. Yesterady I watered all of the outside plants and so I won't have to do as much today. I am almost done washing all the sheets of all the beds and I watered the indoor plants as well. I emptied the dishwasher, folded towles, and had some wine.
So, the only thing left to do is finish the beds, make a shopping list and that's it! Then I'll go shopping tomorrow and I am done. Life is great.

Time to go

Well, almost, but I'll get ready now....
Hopefully tomorrow will be better, but I would think so since it'll be my last day of the work week!!!!
Ciao.

Countdown

I so cannot wait to go home. Not because I don't want to be here or because I am going to be alone and have the house all to myself. Just because I want to get warm.

(Can there be any more complaing in a day?)

Numb

It is so cold in here my fingers are starting to get numb. How stupid is that?
I just went to run my hands under HOT water. I wish I could take a shower becuase it feels really weird when only your hands are warm and the rest is freezing.

No Energy

I figured I better post something so I though it might be time for a real good bitch-session. Ok, here we go!
I am very cold. Yesterday apparently temperatures were adjusted because others were cold too....it seems even colder now.
I am tired and can't believe that it's only 2 PM. What else?
I am kind of bored. Everything seems slow today so I can't even get things done, which is aggravating.
There's gotta be something else to complain about....
Nope, not really.
That's it for now.

All Alone

My husband left this morning and won't be back until Friday night. What to do? What to do?
I checked the fridge this morning and there is some wine in there. That'll go good with that Pizza.

Gotta Go!

What funny "Monday"....It was actually pretty good. I ended up being busy, but now it's time to go!!!
Just two more days until the weekend!!!
Ciao.

Oh No!!!

Darn it. It just started raining. I wish this pattern would stop, where it is nice during the day and it rains in the afternoon. I hardly get to enjoy being outside. It's not fun watching the sun through your window.
This also means that I actually have to drive tomorrow.

You think???

Study Finds Driver's Commute Can Pack On Pounds

Duh. I always though if I drive reeeaaal fast and far I lose lots of weight....
I don't need Dr.'s to tell me that.
That's why I walk....I haven't driven in over two weeks....now that's pretty cool for getting from Northern Virginia into DC. I admit though that every once in a while I'll ask my husband to pick me up in the afternoon. He's nice like that......

Surprise

I just had a nice surprise. My husband called saying that he was in DC and asked me out to lunch. What a nice way to spend an our during the first day of the week.
It was yummy too. We went to Cosi's, and I hat their Grilled Chicken t.b.m. (tomato, basil, mozzarella). Very good. For vegetarians they have it without the chicken too.

Better Late....

...than never.
After the looooooong weekend I am finally blogging again.
What a great weekend. Got lots of rest and lots of things done.
The best thing is that I am off on Friday too!!!!!

I had another cicada incident over the weekend.
On Saturday my husband asked me if I wanted to go for a walk (see where I'm going?), so I figured why not. It wasn't too hot and actually really nice outside. Well,w e have a trail that goes back behind the houses through some woods and it crosses a creek etc. It's not really finished so you have to watch where you're stepping. As soon as we started down the hill I saw the fuckers everywhere. I don't know why but I just get scared and now it's even worse because they are so huge and disgusting. Everything I see moving scares me. So, after I ruined the walk through the woods we attempt as simpler excursion just using the side walk. Well I guess them bugs just though it'd be fun to attack me because that's what they did. I don't have to tell you that we were home really quick. I admit it got so bad that I started crying...
I think I have some experience that I am trying to suppress deep down inside of me... I need to see a therapist.

Alright

I have to get going.
Hope all of you have a wonderfull extended weekend.I knowI will.
Ciao.

So?

Who cares if he advertises for Gillette? I keep reading it all over the place. I want some more stories about him cheating on Posh Spice.

I made it

Just went outside and got my stuff at CVS. I think I know how you stop them cicadas from landing on you. You just have to walk fast enough. So, if you see a crazy German girl running through DC, that's me.
But they are so distracting. I had $21 in cash and my total came to $22 something. So, of course I had to do ask the Lady at the cash register to return one item. When I walked out I realized that I could have paid with my debit card. Stupid.

I am hot

You know how you sometimes feel really good about yourself? Your clothes seem to be working good together and your hair stays in place. I feel really good today. I don't know but that's how I feel.
Maybe it has something to do with the long weekend coming up or it being Friday????

F1 blogging

I just came accross this blog. I still have to add it to my blogroll, but there is a lot of good information about Fromula 1. I have to see though if I like their opinions ;)

UPDATE: Done. I added them to my blogroll.

Lunch Time!!!

Guess what I'm having.......

Cicadas

I hate them.
After several people told me about their experiences with them I finally had my own close encounter with one yesterday. In an elevator. Could you imagine being stuck with one in an elevator? Some lady had it on her shoulder and realized as the doors were about to close. She shook it off and me and a girl from work stared screaming like girls (hmmm...). She started to push all the buttons on the elevator until they all started blinking. We made it though. But now I can't even get into an elevator without looking around me and especially at the people's shoulder that get in there with me.
I can't wait until those damn things are gone. I hate bugs.

Late

I am running behind ion everything today. What a couple of minutes of a train delay can do to mess up your day.
I expect everything to calm down though after lunch.
Funny thing is, I thought I had to finish a certain thing by the end of them month and I just noticed I already did it!!!!! Fells good to get things done.

Another

YEAH! Another meeting. Of course, just 30 minutes before I have to go which means I will be late again. But I don't care. I'll leave early tomorrow. What bothers me is that we never get any advance notice on these. Thanks.
So, later.
Ciao.

Sidetracked

Sorry about the very late post this morning (it is still morning), but I got busy with so much stuff. It always gets like this towards the end of the month, but usually I find some time to breath.
Oh well. But I am still alive!!!

Gone.

Out of Here.
Done.
Ciao.

Great

Just when I am getting to the point where I am looking forward to a little cool-down I read this.
I have been in this area for almost five years now and I am pretty sure that each of those years there is some record-breaking weather event. Last year was "unusually cool" and we had Isabel, although the DC area got lucky. The year beforee that was hot.
You know, I don't think that these events are unusual. All those "weather people" just don't have an idea what usual is.

It's somebody's Birthday!!!

Please go over to The Goddess Dawn and wish here a very Happy Birthday.

Three's a Charm

Well, yesterday we had the third person finding their way over here looking for kids in wet clothes.
I am telling you I don't have any here!!! All I have are stepchildren but I am pretty sure their clothes are dry. OK?

I fell for it

Just was over at Ted's and he pointed to this post at Wizbang about something that I fell for.
Oh well, I never said I was perfect.

Damn Right!!

Another little article concerning last weekend's Formula One race at Monaco.
I still can't believe that Alonso tried to pass Ralf in the tunnel, but I guess he got what he deserved for his stupidity.

Finally

I know I said this before but today I really mean it. Finally I get to go home. I just can't wait. I don't want to go out in the heat though, but I gladly do that to get home.
Hopefully by tomorrow my energy has returned.
Ciao.

Not Again

That happened already.
What the hell is your porblem?????

I knew it

Diamonds might be forever but not when embedded in the nose of a Formula One racing car, as the Jaguar team discovered.

The car company was left reflecting Monday on a costly Monaco Grand Prix after a £140,000 ($200,000) gem had gone missing when Austrian driver Christian Klien crashed his car nose first into the guardrail at the Loews hairpin.

When I was watching the race yesterday and he crashed I thought that one they would never find that thing....Lucky for the one who'll find it.

BTW: I have so much more to say about the race, but I am just too tired to pull myself together for a long post.
Heiko Hebig has a pretty short, but nice post about it.

Monday from Hell

That's what it is. For whatever reason, I have no time (AGAIN) whatsoever. Lunch is almost over and I still haven't posted until now.
I am so grumpy today, but that'll stop hopefully as soon as I get out of here and can at least leave that stress behind me.
What a day.
But I know that next week will be fun. Just three days of work....AND a long weekend!!!

HOT

It is hot here. I usually like it warm and am not the first one to complain about the warm weather, but this is getting really bad.
On Saturday we did some yard work and of course I got a real nice sun burn. My shoulders and neck are fried, which really felt good this morning carrying my shoulder bag around with me....But I guess it's my fault anyways. But the yard looks so nice. My husband worked his a** off. I wasn't able to hang in there that long, especially after I started feeling dizzy (NOT good in the heat). But we are done and can now enjoy it all. Maybe a couple more plants here and there but the major parts are all done.

Friday, May 21, 2004

Good Bye

My work day is over. Now the fun starts!!!
Ciao.

It's somebody's Birthday!!!

So why don't you go over to SilverBlue and wish him a Happy Birthday?

I haven't seen any of them

Have you?

Need Rest

It's just one of those days again. I feel like I am constantly going and all of a sudden it's lat. I really need some rest and can't wait until I get home. Tomorrow should be fun though since we (the place I work at) is going out after lunch....

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Man, Finally I have some time to breath. I figured I have some time since I am on lunch. I hope that before I leave today I can post at least once more. Not like yesterday; I got so busy that I almost forgot to go home....now that's scary.

I hate my hair. Every time I brush my hair it just keeps falling out and I find it everywhere on me, in my house and on my family. I used to have VERY long hair and then got tired of it and cut it VERY short. That was fun for a while, especially during the summer, but eventually I decided to grow it back out. Not I am at the point again where short hair would be very nice. BUT I am going to be strong and let it grow, but I'll keep bitching about it. OK?

empty head

I have empty-head-syndrome. It's sooooo empty in there it's not even funny.
Just one of those days. Although did start really good. I got enough sleep, got up in time, coffee was great this morning....nothing to complain about. But then I got off my nice VRE and had to use the Metro with its delays and PEOPLE. BUT.....I get to go home early today and that keeps me going.
I guess my head isn't that empty after all.

Fun Summer!!!!

Looks like we'll be enjoying our summer....
Isabel didn't really hurt us but I know a lot of people are still trying to recover from that one. The last thing they need is another one.

Leaving early

Well after yesterday's little extended workday I'll be leaving early today. Fair enough.
Nothing else to report from the front here. Everything seems to be going smooth.
hope your day is nice too.

Not much

Not much more going here, but that's ok. That means that I hopefully get out of here on time, which just adds to the quiet and fairly OK Monday.
Ciao.

UPDATE: Right when I posted this I get an e-mail saying that somebody was going to be here in 10-15 minutes (that was about 20 minutes ago) and wouldn't it be nice for me to say Hi. Thanks for letting me know, because I don't have a life at all and love to stay longer here all the time, especially without any advance notice. Thank you.
Tomorrow I'll leave early without telling anybody. HAH

Yummy!!!!

A man who cooked and ate nearly 30 cicadas sought medical treatment after suffering a strong allergic reaction to the sauteed insects.
The man showed up at a Bloomington clinic Thursday covered from head-to-toe in hives, and sheepishly told a doctor he'd caught and ate the cicadas after sauteing them in butter with crushed garlic and basil.

Hmmmmm...

Well, I saw this headline this morning about how the director of Troy made Brad Pitt take his clothes off and all. So, it wasn't really interesting.....But still I can't find it anymore. I might as well post about Brad Pitt's nakedness since I don't have anything else to say.
(You think I get some google hits????)

Spoke from My Heart

It is so true. When you're using the Metro in DC you can tell when Spring comes. It usually starts around the time the Cherry Blossoms start to come out. And it's not only that tourists are standing on the left side and wonder why you ask them to move over (as in "come'on we're on a vacation"), but then they decide to walk in rows of four or five taking up the walkway at a speed I would never make it home in.
I am very impatient when it comes to people blocking MY way in public. I try to be mindful of people that may want to pass me (although that is almost impossible since I am the FASTEST)or when people want to get off the metro or whatever, but please use your eyes because your not the only person out there and nobody gives a shit about you anyways.
I also would like to add that every once in a while you get a real dumbass who lives and works here (at least so it seems) and does the same stupid thing.
I could just go on and on about that, but I have to get back to work or I might have a heart attack.

Living under a rock

See, that's why it bothers me when parents refuse to teach their children about sex, not birds and bees all that crap, but real sex. No matter how old they are. It's the dumbest thing people could do to their children...Well there are much dumber things, but that's stupid and irresponsible.

Electricity

We installed three ceiling fans over the weekend. And when I say we I mean we. Although I did hardly any work other than giving my opinion on how it might have to be wired. Of course the first fan was the hardest. It took about three or four tries until we finally had everything hooked up right. The stupid thing is you get a white (neutral), green (ground), blue (light) and black (motor) wire with the fan. BUT our option were a bare (ground), white (neutral), black and red wire to connect them to. Well, we figured out that the black wire is constant hot, so you can't control it with the light switch, which we didn't want. So, the red one is the one for the switch and that is where the fan motor and light get connected to and the black one just gets stuffed back into the ceiling.
So, I learned something new over the weekend, which I am sure I will forget the next tie such knowledge is required.

Getting Ready!!!

Well folks. It's time to go or at least to start getting ready. Great day and I hope the evening is going to go even better.
Ciao.

Finally

Geez. What a day. So, what time is it? Almost time to go!!! The weekend is near.
I really can't wait. But I got a lot of stuff done today and I feel good about it. That'll make me feel better starting the weekend.

Bills

Ok, I did have lunch, but spent it paying bills. Now it's back to work.
You know, sometimes Fridays seems to be the most productive days for me. Every day should be Friday, except Saturday or Sunday.

Busy

Quick hello.
I am really busy this morning. I'm trying to get a lot of stuff done.
It's such a beautiful day. I can't wait for the weekend.

It's Time

Well people, I am packing my bags and leave.
Today was a good day. I can't wait to get home and enjoy the rest of it. I think I'll spend most of the evening alone but that's ok. A nice glass of wine will keep me company.
Ciao.

Good Cause

Bill offers a really good opportunity for you to make a difference.
Go over there and read about it.
It's about Operation Smile, an organization his wife is working for.

BTW: This is my 400th post!!!!!! And it's a good one too.

No Blogroll :(

My Blogrolls are gone....what to do?????
Oh well, I don't have time for this. Plus it's probably some problem they're having. So, I just have to wait and see.
SiteMeter is still MIA.

????Wrong time again.......

UPDATE: It's back!!!!!

UPDATE: Now, it's gone again....

Endlich

That is the song I was talking about the other day. Well actually I was looking for the artist's name. It's Regy Clasen. The song is so beautiful. She sings in German, but you should still listen to it.
Here is the link to a short version of it.
Also, go to her site. There doesn't seem to be anything in English though.

Did you see that?????

Now the clock seems to be working.
I don't get it....
And I didn't even go to the settings.

Hah!!

There goes that stupid clock again. I think it has a hard time with afternoons....

Visitor

I just wanted to welcome my beloved husband to this blog. He has been here before but it has been a while.
I don't think he'll show up again today but maybe.
WELCOME sweetheart!!!!! You can comment too if you want to....

Nothing else going on here.
My stomach seems to be better so I hope that'll be it for today.

Ouch!!!!

My stomach hurts now. Great. What else????
I hope I make it through the day.

Wish List

Remember that post the other day with all those books? Well, I made it my goal to read them all. Not right now, but over time. So, I decided to put them on my Amazon Wish List (there's no link here, since I don't ask for hand-outs...yet). The problem is that those are a lot of books and unless I am completely stupid the only way I see I can do is, by looking up the book and adding it to my wish list. I started yesterday and currently I am at Hardy, Thomas - Tess of the d'Urbervilles , so not even half way through. Plus I now have already 9 pages of stuff on my wish list and I still want them all.

Headache

I have a big, bad headache.
It started yesterday right when I was leaving work but it wasn't too bad then. I went home and didn't take anything, since I was going to go to bed soon and I don't like to take pills and medication in general. So, when I woke up this morning it was even worse. I took some Tylenol, but it still hurts like hell.
I hate headaches.

UPDATE: It's all gone!!!!! Seems sometimes pills do the trick but I still don't like them. So, back to work!!!!

Wednesday, May 12, 2004

HUH???

Now it says 4:30????
I don't get it.
OK, I'm done.
Ciao. Again.

My clock doesn't work :(

I just realized that my clock, or time stamp doesn't work. It says I just posted the last post at 3:38 PM but it was 4:28 PM, but I selected Eastern Time. What the hell is wrong??? Was it like that before and I was just too dumb to see it? Well, that'll be something to mess with tomorrow.
I am getting ready to go. We're having salad tonight. But with Roast Beef!!!! We made a huge roast this Sunday and now we are eating it all week. FUN. But tomorrow we'll shred it with some barbecue sauce and put it in hot dog buns. We'll also have some cole slaw and baked beans. I can't wait!!!!
Ok, I am out of here.
Ciao.

TV is in

Ok, well when I get home this afternoon I get to see the new TV finally in it's right spot. I guess the guySSSS were able to lift the monster up and it is now all connected (don't want to forget that!) and ready to go. Of course, this happens on a Wednesday when absolutely nothing is on TV. But then again the weather is nice (at least once it's dark) that I'd rather sit outside anyways.
Almost time to go!!!!!

Blog Movie

Salem Pax's blog is to be made into a movie.
Interesting.

Comments

With the new template I finally am able to have comments. I use Squawkbox before to have comments but decided to leave it out now. But now I have pretty much lost all of those old comments which really bugs me. I don't know what to do about that one.
The other thing with the comments which I don't like is that you can't leave your URL etc. on there, but I could live with this, since I don't even know how much longer I want to stay with Blogger anyways.
So, that is my little bitch-session for today (or now).
I really do like it and it looks a lot better, but I still want to move.....

New Addition to the Blogroll

I have added David's Medienkritik to my blogroll. Even though it is a German blog the posts are in English. It is a very good source of German News, I think. Take a look and judge for yourselves.

Sad Good-Bye

SilverBlue has a very very good post about the loss of common sense.
Just makes you scratch year head, doesn't it?

Look what I can do!!!!!

I felt like a change and since the great Blogger changed over the weekend I thought about changing as well.

Getting Ready!!!

I'm almost done here.

Lately I have had a huge craving for some good-old McDonald's. Maybe I should convince my lovely husband to stop by there on the way home. That sounds good.
We'll see.
Ciao.
