Random Metro Fact

It has been a long time since I wrote anything about riding the metro, but every once in a while I feel like I need to speak out.

What makes people think that playing their PSP with the volume all the way up and screaming at the game while on the metro, is OK?
Just a question.

Help, I’m drowning

What’s going on???
It took me forever to get to the metro station because my usually route was flooded and then the metro was s-l-o-w because some station had to be closed because of flooding. Perfect Monday morning I say.

In other news I hope Italy gets their asses kicked by Australia, simply because they beat the US, literally.

Have a good one.

Not Fair

Well, I guess maybe a little bit, but I feel like I am the only person in this country working today. At least I was off all last week, but it feels strange to drive to the metro station and hardly any cars are on the streets. The metro was empty and is on a weekend schedule, of course. Once I was in DC I thought it was the middle of the night. The streets are strangely empty and once I got to my building it was locked.
Now I have an entry card but do you think I could find the swipy-thingie on the outside of the building? No sir! So I walked around since we have a door out back and I know how to get in there since that is the smoking area. I am tempted though to get back outside and try to find the swipy-thingie at the front door. I know I used it before. Stupid, I tell ya.

Oh, I almost forgot.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Hmm. They must’ve been delayed this morning

I know VRE sucks. That’s why I stopped riding it. Metro costs as much with parking and they run every 5-6 minutes and I am on time once again. Lucky me, I live close to the VRE and metro stops.
Now, I get to complain about idiots riding the metro again, but so far all the idiots were fat and that’s boring.

Is it Monday?

OK, I really thought today was Thursday, and somewhere in the back of my mind I know that this is true. But everything that could make this day seem like a Monday so far happened.
First, I (re)experience the reason why I switched back to the metro; mainly because VRE sucks ass. They increase prices and start having more delays and what not. Can you believe I prefer the metro now and enjoy using it?
Then, after getting to work late, the server is down. But of course I am all frantic because I am late and have to send e-mails and go online and nothing works. Great. Switch to hotmail to let my folks in Germany know that hotmail will have to do for this morning’s e-mail session.
The worst part is that I only have half the day today top get things done so it is even more stressful…..I need a drink.

Happy Friday!!

It's finally Friday.
Just got to make it through this day and then it's the weekend. I just love Friday's.
Plus I am so sick and tired of dealing with tourists this week, it's mot even funny.
I think they do it on purpose. You know slooooowly walking through the metro system in rows of 100 so NOBODY can pass them. "Hey, we're on vacation." Sometimes it just makes me want to punch them.
So, this afternoon, when I finally get to go home, I will take a deep breath before I leave and just walk past all of them idiots with a big fat smile on my face because I know it's the weekend.

nbc4.com - News - Driver Reportedly Leaves Train, Catches Another

Just another little story about the wonderful Metro system we have here in the Nation's capitol. Not only are the brakes frequently on fire lately and the red line is delayed constantly because of last week's flodding. Now the drivers just get up and leave. Time for another fare increase!

Monday morning on a Tuesday

Well mainly this is another metro post. People are so stupid and inconsiderate. My shoulder hurts from running into so many dumbasses. I think I'll have a bruise by tonight. What's up with thsoe idiots standing in front of open metro doors but not getting in, making it hard for everybody else to pass them and get on the train? Especially when you're running towards it because the doors are about to close....that's when I got my main shoulder injury this morning. Or those people that realize right when the doors close that they have to get off and run out standing in front of the doors and look around because this seems to be the best spot to figure out where to go?
Then on to the farecard vending amchines or whatever they are called. I had to fill up my smartrip card this morning because yesterday about 1000 tourists crowded around every single machine trying to figure out hwo to follow the directions on the machines. Since I really wanted to arrive at home before midnight I though I just take care of it this morning. No problem, right? There are two machines for the smartrip cards I get in line and this metro-dude is helping two girls in front of me and they walk off. My turn right? NO. This bitch walks up front of me and says something to the metro-dude and then when she is done complaining she proceeeds to the vending maching right when the two girls are done-IN FRONT OF ME!!! I hate people. I really do.

nbc4.com - News - Metro Station Reopens After Ceiling Collapse

That'll make for a nice commute.
The Farragut North Metro Station will reopen this morning, but one of its entrances will remain closed.
That's because a portion of the ceiling came crashing down about 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, sending tiles and wires cascading to the floor.

OK

Alright kiddos. I am out of here. Let's home I don't get hit by a tornado. I heard that the power is out at Springfield Metro but the VRE is still running.
Ciao.

Tired, Cranky, Headache

This pretty much describes my morning so far.
Woke up with a headache and way too tired. Had to wait at the train and at the metro and everything was way too packed with stupid tourists and other idiots alike.
I am already looking forward to going home and back in bed.

I'm back!!!

How stupid to start working after a week off.....it seems everybody stayed home....the building I work in was locked...no coffee either. No people on the roads or the train...metro that is since the VRE is not in service today.......I want to go back to bed.....

Metro People

There are different kinds of people that I see over and over in the metro. One kind is the one that thinks it is completely unnecessary to hold on while riding the metro. They spread their legs to keep balance but usually their expression on their faces just looks painful. I honestly don't get it, but hey if you fall just make sure to not fall on me. Idiot.

Then we have the "I don't care about anybody but me" person.
\For example, yesterday the Metro was packed. No new there. So, everybody, except for the person above, was trying to find a pole or something to hold on to. Well, the dumbass discuss here would be a person that likes to lean on the poles that people use to hold on to. So, when that person leans on it nobody can hold on to it. But that person doesn't care. even if knuckles poke into their backs and their hair gets stuck on other peoples' hands. And to the bitch from yesterday: You might want to cover up your chest a little more until after you shave it again. Yuck.

I know there were other people I wanted to describe but now I can't think of it....

Oh Yeah. The doors on the metro are wide enough to let people through side-by-side. So, mostly after you get off the train people go into the same direction.Left or Right. So, why when you are on my right side and we step out of the train together do you have to turn left right away, cutting me off? Today this lady did it when I was getting on the train. and then she looks at me like I did something when I run into her. What it bitch.

OK, I think that's it now. I feel better now.

It started

Ok, we all knew that today and tomorrow were going to be hell trying to get into the city and around. I personally had no real problems. I noticed that the metro seemed to be a little more crowded but then again sometimes you get one of those. Anyways, I heard from people who live in Maryland and drive to the metro that parking was a huge problem this morning. One is stuck in greenbelt waiting for it to turn 10 AM to use the reserved parking. Another went from one metro station to the other to find a place to park. She lives right outside Andrews AFB. Luckily I do not rely on a car or a bus, which is going to be hell too. I only get to deal with overcrowded trains. We'll see how this afternoon goes tomorrow. Surprisingly I am off on Friday as well.
BTW, I heard that there are people lining up at the Capitol already.

empty head

I have empty-head-syndrome. It's sooooo empty in there it's not even funny.
Just one of those days. Although did start really good. I got enough sleep, got up in time, coffee was great this morning....nothing to complain about. But then I got off my nice VRE and had to use the Metro with its delays and PEOPLE. BUT.....I get to go home early today and that keeps me going.
I guess my head isn't that empty after all.

Spoke from My Heart

It is so true. When you're using the Metro in DC you can tell when Spring comes. It usually starts around the time the Cherry Blossoms start to come out. And it's not only that tourists are standing on the left side and wonder why you ask them to move over (as in "come'on we're on a vacation"), but then they decide to walk in rows of four or five taking up the walkway at a speed I would never make it home in.
I am very impatient when it comes to people blocking MY way in public. I try to be mindful of people that may want to pass me (although that is almost impossible since I am the FASTEST)or when people want to get off the metro or whatever, but please use your eyes because your not the only person out there and nobody gives a shit about you anyways.
I also would like to add that every once in a while you get a real dumbass who lives and works here (at least so it seems) and does the same stupid thing.
I could just go on and on about that, but I have to get back to work or I might have a heart attack.

Countdown

The countdown started. I am almost done for the day.
Finally!
I know I will have a nice cold "Alsterwasser" when I get home and enjoy it outside.
For those of you who don't know what that is (which is probably most of you), it is a mixture of beer and Sprite. It is a really nice summer drink, because you don't get drunk sitting in the sun and it's not too sweet either. It's perfect.

On another note though, I expect to be home later...again. I read that the commuter trains run late because of the heat, but I can always take the metro. I am just spoiled now being able to sit on a real train and having big seats. I love it. Plus I get to walk to the station from home and so I am hardly driving anymore.
