Maryland's agriculture officials dispatched an alert to the public Thursday: beware of the giant African land snail.
The Maryland Department of Agriculture is asking schoolteachers and the public to help in the search for the snails. The state is assisting the U.S. Department of Agriculture in a nationwide call to find and assess the size and location of the population of the snail in the United States.
